The ViewLine pyrometer indicates the exhaust temperature at the end of the exhaust pipe (up to 900 °C). The relationship of this value to the maximum permitted exhaust temperature shows how efficient combustion is at that particular load. A rise in temperature is therefore an important early warning signal.
What's in the Box?
Installed the gauge today, plus sides are that unlike most egt gauges, it has a sensible scale ( some go as high as 1400c!) Downsides... this is in an automotive install, so looks out of place against other gauges with its domed front (scratches easily so take care) and orange back-light. I couldn't find any reference to back light colour, so that was an unwelcome surprise. I've not managed to get a reading from the sensor yet, but not had time to work out why.
